The Circles of Scaggsville

4 11 2009

They number in four as they lay in my path
So simple to use, yet they still raise my wrath
Concrete and stone with a touch of green, if you will
Thus is the tale of the Circles of Scaggsville

Where once was the beauty the countryside laid
Now brings congested life with roads that have been paved
Monday through Friday when the sun touches 7:05
A peaceful sight turns into a tedious line

With all the mini-vans, suv’s and yellow school buses
Soon the lone fingers fly, followed by the drivers cusses
Some days are so still, you think you have to pay a parking meter
I bet I could run in and out and do my weekly shopping at Harris Teeter

From 29 to Maple Lawn Drive, two lanes become one
Bumper to bumper, metal to metal— God we’re having fun
Sunny days, rainy days, days covered with snow
All I can think is a four letter word and that word is SLOW!!!!!

But if your smart and want to avoid all of the mess
And stop putting your patience to the test
Follow my lead and one simple rule
Take your kids out and home school
