Point Guard Scheyer

31 12 2009

Point guard Scheyer he’s our man
Point guard Scheyer he’s our man
Point guard Scheyer, he’s our man
There’s nothing on the court he can’t do
From passing to shooting, he takes our breath away

A crafty veteran who knows how to score
Well rounded skills, who can ask for more
An excellent ball handler and defender too
One of the top free throw shooters
He was loved by all the recruiters
We’re so glad he decided on Duke

Point Guard Scheyer, he’s our man
We love all the things you do
And we know Jim and Laury Scheyer
Are so proud of you

As well as a top-notch player
He is also a history major
Plus a Role Model Speaker at the Emily K Center
He’s our own American boy
A two-time team captain,we’re overjoyed
We’re so glad he decided on Duke

Point guard Scheyer, he’s our man
There’s nothing on the court he can’t do
From passing to shooting, he takes our breath away

In K-ville

30 12 2009

In K-ville
In K-ville
In K-ville

Everything’s fine as we wait in line
For our passes
Bonding with friends, we’re here to the end
When not in classes

There’s no other place that gives us a thrill
We love camping and living down in K-ville
In K-ville
In K-ville
In K-ville

It’s hard to explain, they say we’re insane
For what we do
We live in a tent, we are content
Yes that is true

Everybody knows we do the best we can
That is the role of the Sixth Man
Our lives are on hold this time of year
Cause the basketball team really need our cheers

The die has been cast, we wish it would last
And go on forever
As we live among, it keeps us all young
Ever after
And if your lucky you might even see
Coach K come around with pizza for you and me

In K-ville
In K-ville
In K-ville

Everybody knows we do the best we can
That is the role of the Sixth Man
Our lives are on hold this time of year
Cause the basketball team really need our cheers

There’s nothing compares, as people who stare
Into our scene
But once you live here, it all becomes clear
And I do mean
The world is our own , and your never alone
When you come down to Duke and live
In K-ville
In K-ville
In K-ville

A Day in a Prez’s Life

28 12 2009

I missed the game this year oh boy
I had to work late and ran out of time
There are so many things that are on my plate
And there is no debate
The World just cannot wait

I circle my calendar every year
But things change when you live in a White House
I thought this job came with some perks
The main reason I ran was for
When Duke and UNC played
I’d be sitting next to Coach K on his parquet floor

I tried to get a friend to record the game
Showed him how the DVR worked and everything
Somehow he copied the Young and Restless
I thought this came with his job
Of one of the duties of the Vice-President

I love this basketball game

Next year, I’ll pass a law
Make Duke our National Basketball
There will be one game that will have its own holiday
And all the world will watch it on TV
Watching Cameron Indoor Stadium
Will lift the world from its doldrums
Then my alarm goes off and it’s not what it seems
As my wife leans over and says it’s all a dream

I missed the game today oh boy
I hope they repeat it on ESPN 2
But next year I will have a score to settle
I will be in attendance there
Even if I have to dress up like the Duke Blue Devil
I love this basketball game

Frank Zappa Day

26 12 2009

You won’t find this on any calendar you own
And if you did it would probably be disowned
But in Baltimore on this December 21st
An honor was given to a man who made the music world burst

It’s Frank Zappa Day
It’s Frank Zappa Day
From the Mothers to Montana and Joe’s Garage
The Man from Utopia showed us what Dancing Fools we are
It’s Frank Zappa Day
What Can I Say

Born with a gift some said was bizarre
He created a sound that went beyond the stars
Bordering on madness, freaking out with his songs
Led us on his trip that we gladly tagged along

He invented a new avant classic sound
Where words and melody knew no bounds
Toss in his commentary for the world to see
He was an Over-Nite Sensation with an Apostrophe

It’s Frank Zappa Day
It’s Frank Zappa Day
From the Mothers to Montana and Joe’s Garage
The Man from Utopia showed us what Dancing Fools we are
It’s Frank Zappa Day
What Can I Say

Let’s give a salute for a man who held his own
And tooked his musical trip to the outer ozone
Playing for his fans that were near and far
All he wanted was to Shut Up and Play His Guitar

On this day we will remember you
You taught us a lesson that we know to be true
When the first winter storm has fallen here below
Careful where the Huskies go and Don’t You Eat That Yellow Snow

It’s Frank Zappa Day
It’s Frank Zappa Day
From the Mothers to Montana and Joe’s Garage
The Man from Utopia showed us what Dancing Fools we are
It’s Frank Zappa Day
What Can I Say

Message From God #1202-9

25 12 2009

God is spelled with an upper case G
A lower case g is a heavenly offense
To you it may not matter that much
But to me it will determine where you rest

Chocolate Chips Are Here

24 12 2009

The Chocolate Chips are here
Everyone’s in good cheer
Caroline, she’s just in time
To wipe away the tears

Winter break is soon
Time to leave the classroom
Before we go, this you should know
The cookies will be consumed

The hunger in the air
Will make the cookies disappear
One by one, there are no crumbs
Leftovers are quite rare

The chocolate chips aren’t here
The teachers begin to tear
Like this song, it’s done and gone
They have to wait for next year
Like this song, it’s done and gone
They have to wait for next year

Christmas Time Is Here ( Charlie Brown )

Art of Writing a Christmas Song

23 12 2009

Parody of All I Want For Christmas Is You ( Mariah Carey )

I can’t believe the number of songs you hear at Christmas time each year
Some of them bring back the joy while others release the tears
You hear them every place after Thanksgiving Day
And you can’t wait till Christmas so they’ll go away
Their always on your mind
When you turn the radio on every time

All the songs they sound the same, it’s just a variation of a theme
Then one day it occurred to me, ” A Parody “, this all screams
It’s time to write a Christmas song for all to see
So they can be apart of the festivities
My Christmas wish this year to you
Is to teach you how to write a Christmas tune

The art of writing a Christmas Song
Is making it easy to sing a long
An upbeat melody is always a help
With a little back up from the Big Guy Himself ( HO HO HO )
Add sleigh bells to make the seasonal sound
Have some kids sing chorus like the Charlie Brown crowd
When you put it all together you can’t go wrong
This is the Art of Writing a Christmas Song
When you follow these easy steps
A Christmas song you can expect
My Christmas wish this year to you
Is to teach you how to write a Christmas tune

Young or old it doesn’t matter, if you follow these simple rules
A holiday song always brings a smile and you’ll be nobody’s fool
The Christmas season is a special time
When everybody likes to sing and rhyme
So my Christmas wish this year to you
Is to teach you how to write a Christmas tune

The Art of Writing a Christmas Song
Is making it easy to sing a long
An upbeat melody is always a help
With a little back up from the Big Guy Himself ( HO HO HO )
Add sleigh bells to make the seasonal sound
Have some kids sing the chorus like the Charlie Brown crowd
When you put it all together, you can’t go wrong
This is the Art of Writing a Christmas Song

DUKE/UNC Rivalry

22 12 2009

Don McLean ( American Pie )

A long, long time ago I remember the first basketball game between these two schools
Back in the year 1920
When college sports didn’t bring in the money
They played for The Battle of the Blues

It’s one of the most intense rivalries
A fight for Tobacco Road boundaries
Only eight miles apart
They play the game from the heart

And so it begins again this year
A fight for honor that will bring one of them tears
It’s time to raise our voices to cheer
To the game we hold so dear

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the place to be
Painted dark Devil Blue for the world to see
It’s the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
On ESPN nationally

In the early years it was just a local scene
And we were a college called Trinity
Growing into our basketball shoes
With players Hip Martin and Big Jennie Binn
This is where the history did begin
A small college who started to pay our dues

Then in 20′s we played North Carolina
Who knew that the game would catch on fire
We showed the other schools we were no fluke
When we changed our name to Duke

Now every year we mark the date
And until then we just can’t wait
As we put on our Blue Devil Face there’s no debate
The day, that means , the world to me
I started singing

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the place to be
Painted dark Devil Blue for the world to see
It’s the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
On ESPN nationally

So many games, now where do I begin
Let’s start with that triple overtime win
Back in 68 when the Duke coach was Vic Bubas
When Lewis went down , Lind stepped up to rock
With 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots
After the game they carried him to the main quad

Some say 74 was the greatest come back game
Followed in 75 with something almost the same
Then in 79 the game was so vital
It tied us with UNC for the ACC title

That century helped us to establish the name
Of the Duke/ UNC Rivalry game
College basketball would never be the same
The day that means the world to me
We started singing

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the place to be
Painted dark Devil Blue for the world to see
It’s the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
On ESPN nationally

In 81 began the Coach K age
The season was rough until UNC was upstaged
With Gene Banks in a tux throwing roses to the crowd
The decade gave us the time to grow
And it reflected in how the rankings showed
We weren’t a school that would ever let you down

The 90′s showed we were ahead full steam
And let our fans live out their NCAA dream
We showed the world what we had become
When we were finally ranked #1

It just goes to show you what you can do
With determination and persistence too
We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you
The day that means the world to me
We started singing

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the place to be
Painted dark Devil Blue for the world to see
It’s the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
On ESPN nationally

And the rivalry is still strong and alive
Watching center court makes us all thrive
In college hoops is still the game to beat
The battle is hard-fought every year
As Coach K never shows them any fear
He keeps his cool when the two of them compete

He goes to work like a business man
Spending his time on the right game plan
He’s our king whose is dressed to kill
And all his subjects live in K Ville

And lately we’ve had our ups and downs
But you will always hear that deafening sound
Of all the Blue Devils in the round
The day that means the world to me
We started singing

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the place to be
Painted dark Devil Blue for the world to see
It’s the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
On ESPN nationally

In 2009 it wasn’t meant to be
After the loss when Cameron was empty
I sat alone in the stands and cried
Then a voice from the shadows said it was okay
As I lifted my head, I saw it was Coach K
He said everything has a reason and here’s why

Along as you give the game your best
And the Cameron Crazies do the rest
Don’t hang your head down low
Cause there’s one thing I do know

It’s who we are, not what or when
And if we live our lives right and don’t pretend
That will make us survive to 2010
So join, me now, in song
Coach K and I sang

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the place to be
Painted dark Devil Blue for the world to see
It’s the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
On ESPN nationally

Welcome to the DUKE/UNC Rivalry
