To Kick or Not to Kick ( Ravens Style)

22 01 2012

To kick or not to kick, that was the question
Whether tis have been nobler to have gone for it than suffer
The slings and arrows of Monday Morning Quarterbacks
To have taken a leg to a 23 yarder
And, by choosing, tying it, to play, in overtime
And score…would lead to a fresh start
Extending heartaches for the millions who watch
With a noble gleam, in a Raven’s Nation
And higher CBS ratings. If to play, in overtime
In overtime, perchance to dream. And to advance
For in that advancement dreams do come true
When we do so shuffle off for two weeks rest
A needed pause. Their to respect
That makes calamity a good life
For who should so ever pass this scorn of overtime
Th’ winner be strong, the proud man’s coach and owner
The pangs of two a days, and film review
The insolence of offense and defense alike
That patience merits of th’ worthy a task
When he himself might his quest make
With one swift kick. What could go wrong
To grunt and sweat under one more snap
That could lead to Tebow sudden death
The thrill of victory or agony of defeat
No time-out remaining, and seconds to go
Should it be left by the arm of Flacco or by
The fly from the foot of our kicker Cundiff?
A coach’s conscience does makes cowards of us all
And thus the native hue of playing Harbaugh
Is sickens o’er me with a pale cast of thought
And enterprises of great pitch in the moment
With this regard that will give the game away
And lose the game so swiftly .– The Ravens I could face
But what would haunt me more, than the world giving me heck
Is losing to Bill Belichick

#Hashtagfever

Cat Scratch Fever (Ted Nugent)

Well I see them when I’m tweeting
In everyone’s post
Words that have been spelled space free
At first I thought the problem
They all had small keypads
And some big old ass thumbs like me

But it’s called #Hashtagfever
#Hashtagfever

The first time that I tried it
My finger did slipped
Shifted the 4, not the 3 instead
So while I thought I told my friends
How I hurt myself
I called everyone $hithead

I’m catching #Hashtagfever
#Hashtagfever

It looks so damn simple
But it’s a pain
This little Twitter game
Besides counting all the characters I use
There’s also symbols to boot
It’s driving me insane

Well I’ve tried it for a month
And finally have learned
Now using it excessively
I even made an app
And then a game out of it
#Hashtagyouritandnotme

I’m loving #Hashtagfever

Down to the Hundred Acre Wood

18 01 2012

Simpler times where words always rhyme
On a rainy day meant for two
Crust free bread on a comfy bed
No better way to beat the blues

The pitter patter didn’t matter
It just added to the ambiance
Nestled close, to the one you loved most
Your so glad you had the chance

A silly old bear and his friends
Taking you places again
Childhood memories
For you and me
If only we could, you know we would go
Down to the Hundred Acre Wood

A well-worn book worth a second look
From years when I was a child
Now to be shared with a little girl there
Yet again to bring another smile

A young daughter and her father
Sharing a tale on a winter’s day
Turning the page, no matter what the age
Without fail being swept away

A silly old bear and his friends
Taking you places again
Childhood memories
For you and me
If only we could, you know we would go
Down to the Hundred Acre Wood
If only we could, you know we all should go
Down to the Hundred Acre Wood

Marshes of Jekyll Island

1 01 2012

Oh Marshes of Jekyll Island
So still as your waters are flat
They bring me to the beauty of nature
Damn, I just got bit by a gnat

The Estuary thus now calls to me
Where the Tidal Creek has always sat
The sweet smell of the red and salt cedar
Damn, I just got bit by another gnat

Sitting on the Marshes of Jekyll Island
Coming to the edge where my life is now at
Leading the soul to the almighty answer
Damn, this place has a lot of gnats!!!!
