There’s a tale to be told and heard around these hills
Of a man and his quest from Owning Mills
Who takes to the road to bring smiles to people in need
In the light of day until the dusk of night
A self-made success he will never give up the fight
As he revs the engine of his custom black Lamborghini
The first time you see him, you do a double take
With your mouth wide open as you contemplate
Coasting up beside him on a stoplight near Silver Spring
He slowly looks over with a wink and a nod
With both hands on the wheel of his Gotham hot rod
Saying in a slow dark voice, ” Good Morning.”
Before you have a chance to muster up a reply
He turns his sound system up in a blink of an eye
Playing a song that bounces off the nearby minivans
With a souring beat and a simple chorus too
It answers any questions he expects from you
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na,… Batman…..
The Cape Crusader’s here
To wipe away the fears
Doing good deeds in these cold cruel times
Bringing smiles to boys and girls
From the hardships of their worlds
Just an ordinary super guy
Batman of Route 29
He began visiting hospitals in 2001
With Robin by his side, who was played by his son
Helping the children spirits by being a super friend awhile
Once word got round other hospitals and charities called
From just chance visits, it began to snowball
And now his Bat phone is on everyone’s superhero speed dial
With two large bags of Batman paraphernalia
From books, bracelets and other toys he can think of
He travels several times a month for this worthy cause
Wandering the halls of the hospitals cancer wards
Bringing an immediate boost to whomever he walks towards
It’s like waking up on Christmas and seeing Santa Claus
Not looking for glory as he does these good deeds
He’s just trying to bring some joy to children in need
Helping kids in hospitals and schools across the Maryland line
So if one day you are parked at a stoplight
And he’s idling next to you, don’t hit the gas in fright
Just give a tip to his cowl saying, “Thank you Batman of Route 29.”
The Cape Crusader’s here
To wipe away the fears
Doing good deeds in these cold cruel times
Bringing smiles to boys and girls
From the hardships of their worlds
