Trying To Recapture

10 11 2009

Old dogs, Used hogs
It’s the weekend on the open road
Leather jacks, thrown out backs
Doing things they shouldn’t, I’ve been told

Forty eight, feeling great
As the wind washes away the years
Painted lines, old road signs
Each milepost wipes away the tears

They’re just trying to recapture a time
A time that they never knew were it went
Bringing back lost moments of glory years
Of a youthful time ill spent

Visors down, hit the ground
The open road calls out to you
A no name pass, on a tank of gas
As you ride away from the truth

Heading west, one last sunset
For there you’ll be forever young
Shifting gears, and disappear
Into a 60’s tune that’s been sung

They’re just trying to recapture a time
A time they never knew were it went
Bringing back moments of glory years
Of a youthful time ill spent

Old dogs, used hogs
Forty eight , feeling great
Visors down, hit the ground
Heading west, one last sunset
