Isle of Palms

20 07 2010

Random thoughts and memories
Kodachromes of you and me
The Isle of Palms on a warm summer day
Moments gone but back now to stay
It doesn’t seem that long ago
Past the curtains that once were closed
The sand and surf and evening tide
Showing you what there is to find

Let’s all go down to the Isle of Palms
Where everybody likes to sing along
To the sounds of the summer waves
As it takes you back to younger days
Somewhere under a southern moon
A place where we always have to leave too soon
There’s always room if you want to come along
Down at the Isle of Palms

Pink lemonade and a peach cobbler pie
Al la mode under a clear blue sky
Skipping shells across the rip tide sand
Reliving moments the best we can
Umbrella shade and a hard back tale
Disregarding all the e-mails
In two weeks you can learn to explore
Everything you missed in your life before

Let’s all go down to the Isle of Palms
Where everybody likes to sing along
To the sounds of the summer waves
As it takes you back to younger days
Somewhere under a southern moon
A place where we always have to leave too soon
There’s always room if you want to come along
Down at the Isle of Palms

Pack your bags and stay awhile
We guarantee you a long lost smile
Something that you can take back home
And use it when your all alone
But for now come down and enjoy
And be a little girl or little boy
A place that you can always belong
Right here down at the Isle of Palms

Let’s all go down to the Isle of Palms
Where everybody likes to sing along
To the sounds of the summer waves
As it takes you back to younger days
Somewhere under a southern moon
A place where we always have to leave too soon
There’s always room if you want to come along
Down at the Isle of Palms
