A Hook and a Melody

11 10 2010

Have you ever wondered how it be to write a hit song
Something short and catchy they play all day long
As you dream your name is atop all the music charts
And your song is blaring out from the beach bound cars

You grab a pen and paper as you wait for inspiration
Trying your best to be the next sensation
Then you realize it’s not about the content
It’s all about how the rhythm is sent
Just a 3 chord sound, is what I found
To a chorus riff, so they remember it

I guarantee, it’s simple to see
All you really need is a hook and a melody
Something upbeat, so you can tap your feet
And easy to sing, with a hook and melody

Hip Hop, Country, Reggae or Middle of the Road style
It doesn’t matter as long as it brings a big smile
And every time you hear it you can’t help but swoon
Always on your mind and on the top on iTunes

A little piano intro is a nice way you can start
To let your music and words into their hearts
Then when you finally kick it into gear
Give them all what they want to hear
Just a 3 chord sound, is what I found
To a chorus riff, so they remember it

I guarantee, it’s simple to see
All you really need is a hook and a melody
Something upbeat, so you can tap your feet
And easy to sing, with a hook and melody
