On this date in 1561, William of Orange appointed viceroy of Burgundy/Charolais. And thus ” The Dark Ages ” had been replaced by what was to be known as ” The Primary Colors Age.”

On this date in 1861, on a bet Edward Weston leaves Boston to walk to Lincoln’s inauguration. He walked 478 miles in 10 Days and 10 Hours. In 1867, Weston walked from Portland, Maine to Chicago, Illinois, covering over 1200 miles in 26 days. In 1909, at the age of 70, he walked 4,000 miles, from New York, New York to San Francisco, California. Sadly, Weston was severely injured when he was struck by a New York City taxicab in 1927, and never walked again.

On this date in 1907, the 1st cabs with taxi meters begin operating in London. Up until then it was just an earlier version and precursor to PayPal. ” OK. We’re here. Time to Pay up Pal!!!! ”
