Ballad of Eco Ed

16 03 2011

There are yet few men in modern time
That want to Save the World on their own dime
Putting the pedal to the metal for the sake of Mother Earth
To be able to give her a needed re-birth

Living in a land that consumes everything fast
He wants to give back and help make it all last
Being counter-culture is his personal goal
As he spreads the news, letting the people know

Ballad of Eco Ed
A different person born and bred
One who believes in what he stands for everyday
All the while ridiculed, saving Mother Earth by making his own fuel
No truer actions have ever been said

An American actor and environmentalist
From Walden Woods Project to the Green Wish
Recycling and harnessing solar and wind power
He lives to be eco-friendly every second, minute and hour

It takes a strong man to stick to these beliefs
As he wants to give this world a little relief
I wish we could heed the advice that he has sent
And try to decrease our carbon footprint

Ballad of Eco Ed
A different person born and bred
One who believes in what he stands for everyday
All the while ridiculed, saving Mother Earth by making his own fuel
No truer actions have ever been said

So I leave you with a thought before I go
About a man one day who may become a folk hero
Like Johnny Appleseed or Casey at the Bat
But instead of fiction, it will be based on fact

Living with the land and not stripping its heart
Is this person’s belief from finish to start
An indelible print he will surely leave after his time
Of how he gave more to this planet, then left behind

Ballad of Eco Ed
A different person born and bred
One who believes in what he stands for everyday
All the while ridiculed, saving Mother Earth by making his own fuel
No truer actions have ever been said
