Southern Shore Sunset

28 12 2011

Weathered paths and weeping oaks
Fallen moss with hickory smoke
Island history never spoke
On a trail around the bend

A gentle wind on a Winter’s eve
Rippled marshes with shadowed leaves
Chance encounters yet to be seen
Hold my hand, my old dear friend

Looking for a moment
A memory we won’t forget
Between the evening and day
Upon the waves
Of a Southern Shore Sunset

Driftwood thrown against seashells
Silhouettes of old Jekyll
Embrace us just to sit a spell
Before the day is through

Running lights begin to appear
In still reflections near the pier
Hold my hand and have no fear
For I am here with you

Looking for a moment
A memory to never forget
Between the evening and day
Upon the waves
Of a Southern Shore Sunset

Instrumental

The sun has set, the air’s a chill
To remind us what it always will
I’m yours forever and a day still
Hold my hand, my old dear friend

Looking for a moment
A memory we won’t forget
Between the evening and day
Upon the waves
Of a Southern Shore Sunset
