A Beautiful Disguise

26 03 2014

A light snow fell overnight
Yesterday no longer recognized
Not deep though, rather thin to the eye
Nonetheless a beautiful disguise

A day filled with hope renewed
Layer upon layer, a new beginning
We have a choice at how it’s to be
And not the better offering

Not completely erasing tragedy
I say these words to you
Because I find myself struggling
While renewing the right to choose

I find I’m not alone
History is always by my side
To hate this personal revelation
Nonetheless a beautiful disguise

30 Years Too Long

7 12 2010

It was 30 years too long today
When we last heard him play
Singing his songs to the World
To all the boys and girls
And they’d listen to what he had to say

He was a man, made of the times
Who used to play with words and rhyme
As he strummed on his guitar
That made him into our star
When we needed a reason to shine

Yet he’s gone, I can’t believe
30 years too long has passed
He’s helped so many to love, learn and grow
Through his songs, We all can see
That his message will always last
From his words and music that lives inside our souls
Thank you for the time before you had to go

With a smile that melted hearts
He took all ours at the start
And he left us all in a trance
He gave us the will to give peace a chance
As to each one’s life he is a part

Instrumental

Yet he’s gone, I can’t believe
30 years too long has passed
He’s helped so many to love, learn and grow
Through his songs, We all can see
That his message will always last
From his words and music that lives inside our souls
Thank you for the time before you had to go

It was 30 years too long today
When we last heard him play
Singing his songs to the World
To all the boys and girls
And they’d listen to what he had to say

Unwritten Dakota Song

9 10 2010

You know I never meant to hurt you
Cause I was busy hurting myself
We were a pair of lost boys in a new World
Looking for a figure that could give us help

There’s no excuse for what you went through
Abandoned for no reason and left all alone
I know that pain that you must have seen
Turning both our hearts and minds to stone

I wish I could turn back the clock
And find all the moments we both had lost
We’d go sit by the waters near the docks
And find the time no matter the cost
Undo all the damage and try to right the wrongs
But I’m afraid now that all remains
Is this Unwritten Dakota Song

It must be hard for you to fathom
While I was seen, but never there
Taking time to love the whole world
But taking no time to show you I cared

If I could rewrite my own history
And take a look at those around
I’d fill your memories with the moments
Instead of the ones you never found

I wish I could turn back the clock
And find all the moments we both had lost
We’d go sit by the waters near the docks
And find the time no matter the cost
Undo all the damage and try to right the wrongs
But I’m afraid now that all remains
Is this Unwritten Dakota Song

Instrumental

I love you every day I see you
I see the love in you each day
You fill the world with love around you
I’m proud of everything you do and say

You know I never meant to hurt you
You know I never meant to let you go
Losing someone twice in one life
Is the hardest thing, we both know

I wish I could turn back the clock
And find all the moments we both had lost
We’d go sit by the waters near the docks
And find the time no matter the cost
Undo all the damage and try to right the wrongs
But I’m afraid now that all remains
Is this Unwritten Dakota Song

At our favorite place in Olde Lansdowne

And don’t forget to try the veal, it’s a must

The week end is here, now let’s have some fun
Time to relax and catch the setting sun
You can bring the kids and the neighbors too
As we play the best mix of music for you
A full piece band with smokin guitars
What better way to enjoy, than under the stars

You can sit and watch or dance away
It makes no difference, we’re here to PLAY!!!!!

Old Friends Sad Reunion

5 07 2010

It was a sunny day, but it was dark inside
We were celebrating the life of a friend who just died
With tears in our eyes and notes in our hands
Coping the best way we could understand

Seeing the old gang brought back so many memories
Side street games and music of the seventies
It didn’t seem that long ago till I looked around
And counted all the gray hair and wrinkled frowns

Old Friends Sad Reunion is the only chance we get
To have the old gang back together, so we can reminisce
Reliving all the good times that we shared in the past
Old Friends Sad Reunion
The next, one of us will miss

Childhood dreams and High School wishes are things of yesterday
Replaced by where we are in life and our sedentary ways
A Christmas card is now the only thing that says hello
To a place and time with friendships, that we used to know

Blue Moon and an orange slice, sitting down with some old friends
Reliving all the good old times before they have to end
So let’s raise a glass and share a toast, and hope again that we shall meet
Somewhere in the afterlife on a place called Foster Street

Old Friends Sad Reunion is the only chance we get
To have the old gang back together, so we can reminisce
Reliving all the good times that we shared in the past
Old Friends Sad Reunion
The next, one of us will miss

Mark the Hours that Shine

4 07 2010

There are some times, you wish you had back
Given the choice you made off the beaten track
Roads not taken and ones travelled well
Leaves questions with no answers to tell

Traces of time that had been better spent
Taken to the limits of where it was sent
Each and every one has to account for the time
And remember to mark the hours that shine

Remember to mark the hours that shine
Only then can we really find
What’s important in how we live
To the lives that will make us give
And when we see the truth, it’ll set us free
To help us achieve who we can be
Only then can we really find
To remember to mark the hours that shine

The journey itself is never explained
Once we start looking, it soon will change
The fork in the road always appears
But the path to be chose is not always that clear

Like fireflies on a hot summer night
In the palm of your hand, shines the power of light
But letting them go will help to remind
And remember to mark the hours that shine

Remember to mark the hours that shine
Only then can we really find
What’s important in how we live
To the lives that will make us give
And when we see the truth, it’ll set us free
To help us achieve who we can be
Only then can we really find
To remember to mark the hours that shine

The Proud Sicilian Man

1 07 2010

As I walked the streets and the weathered stones
Nestled away in this idyllic land
On a bright summer day I came across
The Proud Sicilian Man

In a world he has come to know and love
By blue waters and rock shaped sand
Caring for the soil and giving back to the Earth
The Proud Sicilian Man

He showed to me, a stranger, a kindness
As he held out a caring welcome hand
Standing up tall and strong with all his virtue
The Proud Sicilian Man

Was it just a chance encounter ?
Or was it part of someone’s master plan
That I should meet and cross paths with
The Proud Sicilian Man

A simple nod and a smiling face
Was all we needed to understand
That I was really no different than
The Proud Sicilian Man

As a warm breeze echoed through the air
He sat down to tend back to his homeland
Walking away I glanced around to remember
The Proud Sicilian Man

So of all the memories I will bring back
One will stay forever on this land
The moment I embraced and became friends with
The Proud Sicilian Man
